That looks like quite the spectacle. The fact that I still have yet to see Phil live irks me to no end. I trust that 2008 will be the year.

What an epic production, I was totally blown away....Jackie Green really impressed me - he reminds me of a young Bob Dylan. The highlight was the Mardi Gras parade through the audience during Iko Iko (with Cyril Neville on B-3) and Wavy Gravy tossed me some beads with ticker tape falling from the ceiling! That and our friend Megz (red dress with Phil above) somehow got on stage to participate in the costume contest....too funny.

I bet it was Ivan Neville, not Cyril, on B3 and vocals. Did Dumpstaphunk play dat nite?

a Mardis Gras celebration...in January...in San Francisco...rapping about organ donors...am I missing something here? It just doesn't add up. Looked like a blast though.

Out of hand good time. Tightest post GD lineup by far, stunningly so.

It was absolutely the best time I have had at a concert since Jerry.

It brought me way back. Choas, Bliss, Colors for 5 hours!! I was skeptical about this lineup so skeptical I did not attend the previous night. Now I will say that this band could honestly be the best band out there period in any genre. They have gone from a good P&F lineup to an absolutly blowing the doors off rock and roll show in like 6 months. I'd hit the road for this band.

Long Live the Grateful Dead!! Thanks Phil for a true epic!! Great Pics and it was Ivan Neville

Great show! One of the most fun post-dead events I have been to. Don't worry the scene is alive and well and living in California.

So... Great Setlist, yes. Musically, not so much. Steve Molitz took away from the overall vibe ( he does that sometimes ). I did have a wonderfull time. Its hard not to have the time of your life at a Mardi Gras Ball whether or not they play great. The Phil show at the Warfield in November was WAY better!

Saturday was the first time I’ve seen any incarnation of the Grateful Dead or its members (because I’m too young to have seen the real thing, and seeing Phil, or Bobby, or The Dead just never worked out in the past), so I have no real basis for comparison, but what I saw was awesome. Truly and a whole different experience--hearing songs live that I love and that I’ve listened to thousands of times on recordings was like nothing else…the fact that it was a HUGE mardi gras party helped things too. Much fun!

I bet the Warfield was good. If I had any idea they kicked so much ass I would have gone. I still can't imagine going to this show and coming to the conclusion this show was subpar musically. The recordings tell a completely different story than what you are claiming ChillyBill.

The jam in Pride was the sicknes-Viola Caution Viola tight as a razor blade

Jakie's vocals were powerful from the very first lyrics-"I went down to the Mountain". Golden road with the old Fender tones. Wow!

wow. that looks fun.

for some reason, while look @ Vann's sick shots, i thought of my oakland Dead new years vid i have. A 'show' becomes much more than a show, when theatre, spectacle and interaction are intertwined. perry farrel used be the maestro of that artform in concert.

go phil. (and...Jackie looks like he was a havin a good time ;) )

cheers again on the great shots.

you're so right johnny. i had an amazing time at this show. the energy in the building was really high all the way through. dumpstaphunk was a great warm up, and ivan neville singing and playin on iko iko during the parade was the heat. the setlists really speak for themselves, but the viola>caution>viola left me stunned. the set is up on archive for those who couldn't be there.

its really funny how bad jackie green wants to be BOB DYLAN, i mean look at those pictures! saw them at the nokia last november, not a bad show, but jackie green left more to be desired. personaly thought phil had the best line up with warran and herring.

Mimi is so right, also the warfield in november blew this show right out of the water. But phil throws a great mardi gras party

Hey Crawf-no LSD for me. But I have seen Mule, Tool, WSP, UM, Primus, LOS, Ozzy, Ween, and many many more all in a little over a year. This show was better than all of them easily except for one of the Panic shows, which was pretty close to the same level but only 2/3 as long.

I have seen the Dead with Warren and Herring, The other ones with Herring, Jazz is Dead with Herring.Ratdog, Zero, Baynan with Kimock., Phish many times etc..This lineup is as good or better than any of those in my opinion and I'll stick by my statement. It is not the Grateful Dead but it is damn good. Phil singing Morning Dew is a little rough they could lay that one to rest.

If Zeppelin tours I'll retract my statement becuase there has never been a better band.

God bless Phil!

Good show but the Warfield show 11/27/07 was 10 times better musically. Plus the warfield show had a little reckoning (acoustic set) in the middle. I got the soundboard from philzone since i new right after b-day show that it was a must have but if you want to listen first goto LMA... http://www.archive.org/details/plf2007-11-27.flac16

The Warren and Jimmy lineup is still the gold standard as far as I'm concerned. But Larry Campbell is a mofo on at least 7 instruments and Phil really digs Jackie Greene. Plus Mr. Lesh looks like a million bucks. Where's the downside in that?

A panic show better than a PHIL show? Come on buddy get your' music straight here. panic ain't nearly as solid top to bottom and should never be compared to nay band with containing phil and bobby anyway. what a joke

Wow, it looks like the ole' days. Right on, Phil.

I would almost go see the Phriends line up another time, but you never know who you're going to get. Are you going to get the Phriends that can put it together, or the ones who Phil threw together at the last minute?

Love to ya sisters and brothers.
