Kaki King Tour/Album

Kaki King
Velour Music Group is pleased to announce a headlining tour in support of guitarist/songwriter Kaki King's anticipated fourth album, Dreaming Of Revenge. Following several appearances at the SXSW Festival, the 12-day tour will kick off March 21 at Seattle's Tractor Tavern, and will wrap up April 12 at Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club.

Due out March 11 and produced by Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Malcom Burn (Emmylou Harris, Peter Gabriel), Dreaming Of Revenge follows 2006's critically-acclaimed ...Until We Felt Red. Red found King branching out with songs that featured electric and pedal-steel guitar, horns, and, for the first time, vocals. The New York Times said the record sounded like "the abstract, dreamy, and hypnotic end of alternative rock." Revenge picks up that thread, continuing her evolution from acoustic instrumentalist to full-fledged, multi-faceted songwriter. Previously, her whispery, ethereal voice was used as mainly another element in her sonic arsenal. This time around, King put more effort into both her vocals and the lyrics, and, as a result, Dreaming Of Revenge is King's most accessible record to date.

Aside from work on Revenge, King has had a busy and exciting few months. King recorded two tracks for last year's Warner Bros. film "August Rush," in which she appeared as a guitar-playing hand double. Then, King was drafted by Sean Penn to compose original music for several scenes in Penn's acclaimed film "Into the Wild," which also features two of King's previously released songs. The score went on to receive a coveted Golden Globe Nomination. Aside from Sean Penn, King also has a fan in Foo Fighters's frontman Dave Grohl, who asked her to duet with him on "Ballad of The Beaconsfield Miners" from the Foos' current album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.

Kaki is awesome...."Red" actually did not debut vocals, though. She sings on her first record, too. Did you listen jambase? I'm glad she's out doing her own shows and not opening for tools like John Butler and G. Love. Kaki deserves a captivated audience.

YES, glad she is playing at the Stone Church. Can't wait to walk up the road for that show. I haven't seen Kaki King since Asbury Park at the Stone Pony when they Great Bamboozle was good and moe. played on the outdoor stage during the monsoon rains.
