Starting early next month the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Doyle Bramhall II will begin the extensive Wheels Of Soul Tour. Last night at Central Park Summerstage, both Sharon Jones and Doyle Bramhall II sat-in with Tedeschi Trucks giving fans a preview of what to expect from Wheels Of Soul this summer.

Spirit Family Reunion kicked off the evening at Summerstage with a brief set. Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi then brought out their massive ensemble for a performance that ran over two hours. Bramhall II was the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s first guest, as the guitarist initially came out for a lengthy segment towards the start of the set that included covers of The Beatles’ “I’ve Got A Feeling” and Derek and the Dominos’ “Keep On Growing.” Toward the end of the set, Sharon Jones came out to duet with Tedeschi on Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home To Me” and Etta James’ “Tell Mama,” both of which also featured Bramhall II. Sharon and Susan sported huge smiles as they showed off their impressive pipes throughout each song. Jones even noted “we get to do this for the next three months!” at the end of the Sam Cooke cover.

Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Doyle Brahmall II start the Wheels Of Soul Tour June 5 in Paso Robles, California.
