Scott Amendola said it best. John Zorn put out some amazing albums this year which included Mike Patton, Marc Ribot and the amazing drumming by Joey Baron. Seeing Moonchild would be a dream come true or to just see John Zorn live period in any form.....

yeah, marc brownstein is a bigg tool. i love bisco but still hes such a douche. i saw him on an interview saying that you could tell the bisco fans apart from the umphreys fans. the umphreys fans were all wearing polos and preppy (kinda true) and all the bisco fans had their flat billed hats to the side and bobbing their heads like him which isnt true. hes not even that good anymore. but the overall winner of this article is clearly wilco.

SHOWS:

1. TEA LEAF GREEN 2/15/07?? 8150 Club (Vail, CO) TLG's first time there and they new it would be their last because it was getting torn down. The legendary bouncy floors were going crazy!

2. STRING CHEESE Dobson Ice Arena (Vail, CO) was hot as hadies but the boys left everything they had there for those two shows.

3. WIDESPREAD PANIC Wakarusa June 9th. My 30th B-day, with my best friends, 80 degrees, BEAUTIFUL sunset, and they opened up with AIN'T LIFE GRAND!

4. ASSEMBLY OF DUST - Saw them about four times last year and I still believe they are one of THE MOST underrated bands on the scene. Reid Genauer is a modern-day lyrical genius and Nate Wilson is THE best keyboardest on the scene. PERIOD.

5. PHIL AND FRIENDS Sept ? Kansas City/Uptown Theater - Jackie Greene really blew me away. Guy's got soul. This lineup as a whole has it locked in.

6. MOE Liberty Hall, Lawrence KS

7. ARKAMO RANGERS Canoe Club 10/13 One of the best up and coming bluegrass bands on the scene. www.arkamorangers.com

"i didn't think brownstein was actually THAT self absorbed -- he lists his own band as one of his favorite shows?? and i liked bisco."

so what? is it such a bad thing that an artist happened to have the most fun at one of his own shows? not to mention, you dont even know why he chose it as one of his favorite shows, maybe hes got a reason that goes beyond the music. maybe it is something personal, who knows?

For the record, Brownstein listed the Tractorbeam show, which was an experimental off-shoot of the Biscuits: a 100% instrumental show, no singing. For anyone who has heard it -- traditionally a fan of the Biscuits or a vocals hater -- the show unquestionably ruled. Apparently Marc loved it like the fans did. He is so much like a fan himself in caring about the setlist and the improvisations. It would be neat to hear exactly why he listed that show if Jambase could do an interview with him on this. I think that is great to have confidence & enthusiasm, and to compliment his band-mates like that especially considering they're working with a newer drummer, and they had never played a show like this one before. Listing it 3rd best is humble enough for me, I think he was being honest.

The Tractorbeam show is available here

http://www.livedownloads.com/show.asp?show=1783&artist=128

I am really enjoying all the Comments. I am going to pick up some of these discs that I haven't heard yet, that are recommended here, like Bassnectar.

A lot of good eclectic cross-genre picks, very un-jam band too. Seems like the door has been shut on jam bands as we know them. Good songwriting and real experimental music are back in vogue finally. Phew!
