Cover Alert | Pearl Jam Covers Rolling Stones In Norway

Last night Pearl Jam brought their European Tour to Telenor Arena in Fornebu, Norway; where the band dug deep to fill out the evening’s 34-song setlist. For Pearl Jam fanatics, the biggest treat of the night was probably the live debut of “Strangest Tribe,” a song the band released as a Christmas single in 1999. Just a few songs later Eddie Vedder and Co. dusted off a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Waiting On A Friend.”

Pearl Jam first performed “Waiting On A Friend” back on June 23, 2006 in Pittsburgh and then played it again a few weeks later at the Santa Barbara Bowl on July 13, 2006. Last night’s take on the Jagger/Richards gem was only the third in Pearl Jam history. Even The Stones themselves haven’t played the song very often as “Waiting On A Friend” has only made nine appearances at Rolling Stones live shows since 1981.
