Bruce Does The Dead contains 20 tracks featuring almost three hours of music from the Grateful Dead, covered by Bruce Hornsby and featuring guests such as Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, R.S. Hornsby and Branford Marsalis. While Hornsby was a member of the Grateful Dead for a spell in the early ’90s, this compilation focuses on GD covers performed after Bruce left the band to focus on his own career. We’re talking stellar versions of “Truckin’,” “Not Fade Away” and “Sugaree” played with Lesh on bass in 1996, a gorgeous “Mandolin Rain” > “Brokedown Palace” from that same year, a riveting “Row Jimmy” from 2005 and many more gems.
Bear in mind this is just a bonus and the regular 20 Days Of Bruce series rolls on as by the end of the 20-day period recordings of all 20 shows from Hornsby’s acclaimed Yoshi’s run in 1998 will be shared.
