Last night Michael Franti headlined a benefit held at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA that found him joined by a number of his musical friends to raise funds for his Do It For the Love Foundation and Music Heals International.

Bob Weir, one of the venue’s owners, was among Franti’s guests last night. The guitarist sat in on covers of “Sitting In Limbo” and “Three Little Birds” with Franti and his band. Not only did Bobby perform with Michael, but he also took part in an impromptu set that included members of RatDog such as Robin Sylvester, Jay Lane and Rob Wasserman. The brief performance included takes on “West L.A. Fadeaway,” “The Other One” and “Not Fade Away.” Jason Crosby opened the show with Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Reed Mathis and Ezra Lipp. Crosby later sat in on fiddle with Weir and his RatDog-heavy backing band. We’ll have more from the benefit in the coming days.
