On Sunday night Carlos Santana was one of five entertainers to be honored for lifetime achievement at the Kennedy Center. The guitarist recently sat down with PBS’s Jeffrey Brown to discuss his long and illustrious career.

Santana has a charisma that comes through in the 10-minute chat as he tells Brown about how the sound of a guitar is the sound of a woman, growing up in San Francisco, the advice impresario Bill Graham gave him and much more. Watch Carlos’s interview from PBS’s Newshour:
