Phil Lesh Alt-Q Bids Terrapin Crossroads Goodnight

Phil Lesh concluded a four-night stand by his "Alt-Q" band of Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, John Molo, Jeff Chimenti and Neal Casal last night at his Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael, CA. The evening featured an interesting setlist that saw the band mix a fun set of covers with classic Dead material.

The show started with a jam that led into "Here Comes Sunshine" > "Crazy Fingers," with Casal handling lead vocals on both songs. Haynes took a turn in the spotlight on a cover of "Dear Mr. Fantasy," while Herring was featured on an instrumental version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." A poignant "He's Gone" and tight take on "Cosmic Charlie" brought the first set to a close.

Lesh and his ensemble focused on tunes from the "Primal Dead" period during the second set with "Caution," "Dark Star," "The Other One," "St. Stephen" and "Lovelight" all seeing action. Haynes handled vocals on covers of The Rolling Stones' "Play With Fire" and "Let It Rain" by Eric Clapton as well as the Dead's "Wharf Rat." The run came to a close with a rare Molo lead vocal on George Jones's "White Lightning" and Warren leading the band through "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds."
