So, will the setlists for the next four shows align with the setlists from the final four shows of the Beacon Residency? Well, since the Fonda Residency is six shows and the Beacon Residency was only five, we do know there will be at least one show that’s different.
Last night’s show opened the way all shows on this tour have opened – with a cover of The Byrds’ “So You Want To Be A Rock And Roll Star.” Other covers included Paul Revere & The Raiders’ “(I’m Not Your) Stepping Stone” and “Willin'” by Little Feat. The opening night of the run also saw performances of rarities “Melinda,” “Fooled Again (I Don’t Like It),” “Cabin Down Below,” “Billy The Kid,” “To Find A Friend” and “Angel Dream.” As they have each night this tour, The Heartbreakers also worked in a version of “Tweeter And The Monkey Man” from Petty’s time with The Traveling Wilburys. “I Won’t Back Down,” “Refugee,” “Runnin’ Down A Dream,” “You Wreck Me” and “American Girl” were the hits played at night one of the residency.
