Details
The Summer of Love was the culmination of a movement, and its music defined the era. Songs such as Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love,” The Beatles’ “All You Need is Love”, Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky,” and Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” are as relevant today as they were when they were first heard 50 years ago.
We saw that at one of the most memorable celebrations of the Summer of Love’s 50th anniversary. At the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers June 21, an all-star roster of musicians gathered for the Grand Lighting and Surrealistic Summer Solstice Concert. Launching a spectacular light show at the Conservatory, the musicians revisited the era, leading a crowd of thousands in a memorable night of song and celebration.
Now, there’s an encore, and it’s happening at The Fillmore December 9 as a benefit for Rex.
On Saturday, December 9, Lebo & Friends will bring the Summer of Love spirit back to the historic Fillmore to support the Rex Foundation. Musical director Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz will transport you back to 1967 as he leads an all-star lineup of rock ‘n’ roll legends – Norman Greenbaum (“Spirit in the Sky”), Lester & Dylan Chambers (The Chambers Bros.), David Freiberg and Linda Imperial (Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane), Dave Getz, Peter Albin and Darby Gould (Big Brother & The Holding Company), David and Linda LaFlamme (It’s A Beautiful Day), along with members of Moonalice (Roger McNamee, John Molo, Barry Sless) Steve Adams (ALO, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers), Jay Lane (Ratdog), T Sisters, Mookie Siegel (David Nelson Band), Greg Loiacono (Mother Hips), Paula Frazer (Tarnation), and more to be announced.
Join us for an unforgettable celebration of the Summer of Love–and help Rex as we continue to support the days gone by and the days to come!
