About Simeon Soul Charger
Deeply nested in the comforts of their tour van, affectionately named Carl The Friendly Polar Bear, the band races forward at breakneck speed to a seemingly ambiguous destination. A genuine passion for music, experimentation, live performance, and the excitement of the unknown has created a unique camaraderie among the band members shared in this humble dwelling.
It all began in the basement of a dingy venue where singer/songwriter Aaron Brooks and bassist Jim Garibaldi met for the first time. Though on tour with different bands, the two immediately connected and began jamming several times a week. After several conversations about starting a band, phone calls were made to hunt down a notoriously monstrous drummer named Joe Kidd. Cellist Kevin Bjerre of the Cleveland Youth Orchestra had already been playing acoustic sets with Aaron, and the four instantly shared a cosmic ambition. After performing several shows, a vibrant buzz began to surround the group. The band wasted no time getting into the studio to record their self-titled first release. Caleb Dixon, a gifted guitarist and friend of Aaron’s, was asked to join the sessions. His tasteful contribution was instrumental in shaping the album.
Simeon Soul Charger’s six track EP was released to a packed house in April of 2009 accompanied by an 8-piece choir. A rigorous tour schedule immediately followed sending them on an exciting, nutritionally deficient, and often sleepless journey across the midwestern and northeastern states. After months of touring and a growing hunger to enhance their style and performance, the band began pursuing lead guitarist Rick Phillips. In August of 2009 Rick finally auditioned and after just one session it was apparent that he was the perfect guitarist for the band, combining atmospheric sounds with a distinct ability to enhance those around him. He was instantly accepted into the Simeon Soul Charger community after an emotional, high-energy debut performance quickly making him a fan favorite.
With the newly assembled lineup the band steams ahead balancing a relentless tour schedule with recording a plethora of new material that will be released over the coming months.
