~Any of several varieties of funk music, esp. the chief varieties including simple, down-home grooves, tasty harmonies, and soulful textures.
~a funk made from these qualities.
With a blend of funkified grooves, tasty harmonies and soulful textures, Pinot ~ the Los Angeles based FUNK/SOUL group ~ brings a party-vibe atmosphere to each and every performance. The main concept of Pinot is to encourage fans to get up and dance. It’s not about “I’m so introspective” It’s all about the audience–it’s not a concert, it’s a party.
Pinot’s current line-up consists of musicians who met at USC’s Thornton School of Music with Sam Brawner on drums & samples, Brandon Coleman on keys, Nick Klingenberg on Bass, John Schroeder on Guitar, Patrick Keller on Alto Sax, and Robby Marshall on Tenor Sax, Justin Kirk on Trombone, and G Curtis Jr. on Vocals. In addition to the nonet base, Pinot also features live appearances by several different artists such as Kelvin Kaspar on guitar, Vikram Devisthali on Trombone, and hip-hop artist Nobody Famous.
