About Nate Currin
From the first time Nate touched a piano at the young age of 8, it was evident that his love and passion for music would grow. Now with 6 years of performing and touring under his belt, Nate is launching his debut LP, Goodnight California. With song influences that range from British New Wave, to Seventies Folk, from electronic ambience to acoustic rock, Nate brings it with every solid performance!
Nate travels with his band throughout the southeast, through the mid-west and even the West Coast. And Nate brings it with a unique and creative sound, with thoughtful lyrics, with catchy melodies and ambient yet rocking guitar licks. With songs that are full of soul and passion he’s poised to win you over with just one listen!
Having played the southeastern United States for several years, Nate has released 2 EPs and one full length, relatively obscure album. Another Long September and The Darkest Sea both came out in 2007 followed by 2009’s EP, Songs for Magnolia. Goodnight California, the highly anticipated album that’s been well over a year in the making is set for national release on January 25, 2011.
The album brings two of music’s great producers together: Producer Dan Hannon, who is known for his work with rock super-stars Manchester Orchestra on their last three albums as well as his Dove Award winning work with CCM Artist Aaron Shust, and Producer Simon Illa, known for his work with D Woods formerly of Danity Kane and the newly up and coming Vonnegutt (of Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon Record Label).
Goodnight California combines Nate’s strong songwriting, grave, yet soulful, voice, and acoustic presence with a new found rock demeanor. The combination of those traits with a unique electronic ambience and catchy synth loops provide a special musical flavor that is somewhere in between folk, rock and electronic.
