About Hot Club of Hawthorne
Named after Django Reinhardt’s group the Hot Club of France Quintet (which itself was named after the “Hot Clubs” which were European jazz appreciation societies in the 30s), the Hot Club of Hawthorne performs a repertoire consisting of gypsy jazz standards including Django originals, swing tunes from the 20s and 30s, some Latin numbers, and a few comedic film soundtrack songs. The group is a collective of many musicians, and can perform as a duo, trio, quartet, quintet, or sextet, depending on the venue.
JamBase will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special show featuring The Camp Harry All-Stars, Big Light and Ron Artis II & The Truth at San Francisco’s The Chapel.
