A duo with the third person as a rotating choice, Groundtruther has invited many of the greatest improvising musicians in New York to be their guest, including Oliver Lake, Randy Brecker, Lew Soloff, Stephen Bernstein, Ray Anderson, Peter Apfelbaum, Uri Caine, DJ Logic, DJ Olive, and Jane Ira Bloom. The combination of Prevites paradigm shifting electronic drums and Hunters one-of-a-kind 8 string sound has proved both visionary and irresistible to New York audiences. Alone, they create a distinct language. The addition of the third musician triggers territorial exploration of the most searching kind.
In October of 2003, on their first European tour, and again last summer they asked as their guest the formidable, ground-breaking saxophonist Greg Osby, who has been thrilling audiences with his stunning musicianship for years. Together, these three iconoclasts shattered conceptions of how music is organized and played, creating a volatile mix that thrilled European audiences.
Groundtruther is signed to Thirsty Ear Records, and is in the middle of a new trilogy, “Latitude, Longitude, Altitude.”
“Latitude,” with guest Osby, and “Longitude, with DJ Logic, are both out now. “Altitude,” the third and final CD, will be in collaboration with DJ Olive and will be out in fall 2006.
