About Armchair Boogie
Armchair Boogie takes progressive bluegrass to new heights by genre-bending in the funkiest of fashions. The Madison, Wisconsin-based lads show much promise in high-energy live performances and quality studio work. With their debut album released spring 2018, Armchair Boogie continues to entertain audiences across the midwest and beyond.
Augie Dougherty (banjo) and Ben Majeska (acoustic guitar) met in the fall of 2014, trading bluegrass licks on the front porch of their college home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Both were a part of different projects, but shared a rich love for bluegrass. After only a handful of duo shows, they decided a rhythm section would give them the backbone needed for a bigger live sound.
In summer 2015, Eli Frieders (electric bass) and Dan Waterman (drums) brought the extra kick Armchair Boogie needed to stand out in an already impressive Wisconsin bluegrass scene. The sound refined itself by exploring realms of funk, country, and rock. After two years of progression and touring, Waterman moved to a production role in the band as they welcomed present drummer, Denzel Connor.
Nowadays Armchair Boogie continues touring and climbing their way up notable festival lineups. Having shared the stage with the likes of Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Dead Horses, Kitchen Dwellers, and more.
