Not so long ago or far away, in a tiny South Philadelphia apartment with a guitar and a bottle of shiraz, Airways was formed. Originally started as a writing project between guitarist Adam Lefkowitz and vocalist Sanna, a sound emerged that is hook driven, dynamic, heartfelt and emotional. In mid 2010, Airways added a rhythm section and brought their sound to a live audience.
Airways has a real sense of what today’s music is and is complimented by their influences of the early years. Big choruses, soaring vocals, powerful guitar and tight grooves color their sound. Lyrics lament over lost love but always emphasize that these misfortunes can be overcome in the end.
The band is working on their debut record with producer / engineer Derek Chafin. The first two singles “Valentine” and “Sparkle in the Bleak” were released in early 2012, along with the official video for “Valentine”. Airways continues to write and play shows regularly with bassist Rob Bernas and drummer John Burke. The future is bright.
