The members of Young the Giant have an eclectic taste in music as displayed by the wide variety of artists they covered over the years including R. Kelly, Radiohead, blink-182, Sam Smith and Gorillaz. The band recently dipped into the folk-rock well with a performance of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” recorded live during an appearance on SiriusXM.

Young The Giant debuted their take on the song at the idyllic setting of Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado last October. Frontman Sameer Gadhia’s powerhouse vocals fit the song like a glove while the band incorporated strings to give an orchestral feel to the cover. Gadhia and company went on to play “Both Sides Now” a few more times over the course of their fall tour and the version delivered at a session for SiriusXM’s Alt Nation is a wonderful example of their rendition.

Joni Mitchell released “Both Sides Now” on her 1969 album, Clouds. The song, which was initially issued by Judy Collins one year earlier, helped launch Joni’s career as one of music’s greatest songwriters. See how Young The Giant interpreted “Both Sides Now” below:
