Young Axeslinger Jacob Deraps Covers Van Halen & Frank Zappa With Dweezil Zappa

By Scott Bernstein Oct 26, 2016 12:31 pm PDT

19-year-old guitarist Jacob Deraps won many fans a few years back when videos of the young axeslinger brilliantly covering Van Halen songs went viral. One such fan was Dweezil Zappa, who shared the stage with Deraps last week at Impérial Bell in Quebec City, Canada.

Dweezil got in touch with Jacob ahead of the show and invited him to perform. Zappa welcomed Deraps to the stage as part of the evening’s encore on October 19th and told the crowd about his many talents. Jacob Deraps then shredded through a cover of “Eruption” by Van Halen as Dweezil and the band looked on. From there, Deraps showed off his improvisational skills on a sizzling rendition of Frank Zappa’s “Willie The Pimp.”
