Yonder Mountain String Band assembled remotely to record a new version of “Steep Grade, Sharp Curves.” The quintet released “Steep Grade, Sharp Curves” via a quarantine-style video.

Multi-instrumentalist Nick Piccininni handled lead vocals on “Steep Grade, Sharp Curves,” a song the late Jeff Austin wrote and would sing during his time in YMSB. The group issued the original studio version of the track on their 2009 album, The Show.

Yonder Mountain String Band busted out “Steep Grade, Sharp Curves” live on October 9, 2020 in Cincinnati for the first time since Austin parted ways with the group as per Phantasy Tour. Nick plays mandolin in addition to singing the song and is backed by bandmates Allie Kral on fiddle, Dave Johnston on banjo, Adam Aijala on guitar and Ben Kaufmann on bass.
