Yo La Tengo‘s traditional run of shows on the eight nights of Hanukkah continued on Monday at The Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Night two featured Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley augmenting the band for the entire show and also saw Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker and opener Gina Birch of The Raincoats sitting in with Yo La Tengo.

Comedian Brittany Carney rounded out Monday’s lineup and the concert’s beneficiary was the One Acre Fund. Yo La Tengo’s setlist was a broad cross-selection of the band’s extensive catalog, with a least one song played from 10 different albums. Sprinkled among the originals were covers of “Radar Eyes” by The Godz, a gorgeous rendering of The Velvet Underground’s “Sunday Morning” sung by Georgia Hubley and “The Kid With the Replaceable Head” by Richard Hell & the Voidoids.

The extended encore began with Dream Syndicate’s “Tell Me When It’s Over.” Gina Birch then came onstage for the Carole King/Gerry Goffin favorite “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” Birch exited as Corin Tucker came on to sing Neil Diamond’s “Solitary Man” and stuck around for the subsequent “Shape of Things To Come” by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Birch returned along with The BanglesVicki Peterson for the finale, “The Tra La La Song (One Banana, Two Banana).”
