While Yeah Yeah Yeahs have sadly pulled out of this weekend’s Boston Calling festival due to illness, one of Boston’s most beloved bands has been added to the lineup as a replacement. Dropkick Murphys will take the Boston Calling stage tomorrow (Friday, May 26) at Harvard Athletic Complex in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O is sick and wrote a note shared on the band’s social feeds explaining the cancelation:
“Hi Dear Bostonians,
I got nailed with a gnarly bug last week that got in there deep. I’ve started a course of antibiotics and have been instructed to continue to rest it out which means I won’t be able to sing for you this Friday at Boston Calling. ugh.
We have been so looking forward to playing for you again and are super bummed and sorry for the disappointing news. I just want to emphatically note that this is unrelated to [YYY guitarist] Nick [Zinner] who is doing great and back in fighting shape again. We hope to see you soon in good health and spirits, until then much love. KO”
A little reshuffling has been done to the Boston Calling schedule in the wake of the announcement. Dropkick Murphys will perform at 5:55 p.m. tomorrow, while The National‘s set will now start at 7:05 p.m. Foo Fighters close out the action on Friday, the first of the festival’s three days.
