Many musicians are coming together for “Blackstar Rising & The Purple Reign: Celebrating The Legacies Of David Bowie And Prince” at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut later this month. The free multidisciplinary conference will be held January 25 – 28 on the campus of the Ivy League school.
As noted by CTNOW, Prince collaborator Sheila E. and Bowie collaborator Donny McCaslin as well as The Roots drummer Questlove and vocalists Solange Knowles and Kimbra will appear as VIP speakers. Documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker and critics Greil Marcus, Greg Tate, Ann Powers, Alan Light and Michaelangelo Matos (who penned a 33 ⅓ book on Prince’s Sign O’ the Times), along with several additional professionals, will also present at the conference.
