A new box set entitled Woodstock 50 — Back to the Garden — The Definitive 50th Anniversary Archive features all but three songs performed at the original 1969 festival in Bethel, New York. Included on the 28-CD box set from Rhino, which is due out on August 2, are 267 previously unreleased tracks.
The massive box set also contains a Blu-Ray of the Director’s Cut of the Woodstock film, a book penned by festival co-organizer Michael Lang, a collection of ephemera such as a replica program, replica posters, Henry Diltz photo prints and a guitar strap. The $799.98 set comes in a screen-printed plywood box with canvas insert, designed by Grammy-winning graphic designer Masaki Koike and is limited to just 1,969 individually numbered copies. 10-CD, 5-LP and 3-CD versions are also available for pre-order

Full sets from The Who, Joe Cocker, The Band, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival and more will be officially released for the first time ever. “There have been large boxed sets devoted to particular eras or tours — the Grateful Dead do a great job of that sort of thing — but there’s never, to my knowledge, been an attempt to present a large-scale durational experience of this sort,” the box set’s co-producer Andy Zax told Rolling Stone. “The Woodstock tapes give us a singular opportunity for a kind of sonic time travel, and my intention is to transport people back to 1969. There aren’t many other concerts you could make this argument about.”
