On Friday night, Americana trio The Wood Brothers performed before a capacity crowd at the Ogden Theatre in Denver. The Wood Brothers welcomed a handful of old friends for a Louis Armstrong cover as part of the concert.
Oliver Wood, Chris Wood and Jano Rix were joined by opener Sean McConnell as well as Greensky Bluegrass members Anders Beck and Paul Hoffman for the traditional spiritual “Down By The Riverside.” Oliver told the crowd, “the players have changed but the rules are the same, you have to shut your pieholes,” ahead of the performance. The musicians then gathered around a single microphone to sing and play the song made famous by Louis Armstrong.
