The Wood Brothers Welcome Kat Wright In Toronto

By Scott Bernstein Feb 4, 2020 7:16 am PST

Kat Wright joined The Wood Brothers for one song on Monday night at the Mod Club Theatre in Toronto. Wright emerged halfway through the trio’s set for a “One More Day” in which the four musicians gathered around a single microphone.

Last night’s Wood Brothers set went heavy on material from their recently released Kingdom In My Mind studio album including “Little Bit Sweet,” “Alabaster,” “Jitterbug Love” and “Little Bit Broken.” Guitarist Oliver Wood, bassist Chris Wood and multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix also played a number of classics such as “Shoofly Pie,” “Postcards From Hell” and “The Muse.”

The three-piece gathered around one mic for the latter and welcomed Wright, who opened the evening with her own band, for “One More Day” in the same format. A medley of “Happiness Jones” and Charles Wright’s “Express Yourself” came towards the end of a set that concluded with “Snake Eyes.” For the encore, The Wood Brothers followed the beloved “Luckiest Man” with a cover of The Band’s “Ophelia.”
