The Wood Brothers have announced the upcoming release of a new studio album entitled One Drop Of Truth. The album will be issued by Honey Jar/Thirty Tigers on February 2 and includes the lead single “River Take The Town,” which Paste has premiered.
The 10-song follow-up to 2015’s Paradise features guitarist Oliver Wood, bassist Chris Wood and multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix. Oliver described the lyrical writing process for “River Take The Town,” telling Paste:
I was writing literally at first, about how scary it must be when people lose power and communication with those they love. But then the lyrics became a metaphor for something more interpersonal. And by the end of this summer, it seemed to take on new meaning yet again .. It’s nice to go back to the roots for just a minute and hear a stripped down moment before all the bigger sounds hit. We also liked this song to introduce the album since the subject matter has current relevance — although written prior, we happened to record it the day after Houston was flooded by Hurricane Harvey.
The Wood Brothers will tour extensively in the early part of 2018 in support of One Drop Of Truth. Listen to “River Take The Town” below:
