Back on May 29, 2021, guitarist William Tyler performed at Yellowhammer Brewing in Huntsville, Alabama. The performance, which featured his backing band The Impossible Truth, is featured on the upcoming live album Secret Stratosphere, set for release on March 31.
The Impossible Truth consists of pedal steel guitarist Luke Schnieder, drummer Brian Kotzur and bassist Jack Lawrence. The seven-song live album begins with “Our Lady Of The Desert” from Tyler’s 2019 album, Goes West.

The live release continues with “Highway Anxiety,” from 2016’s Modern Country, which ends with Kraftwerk’s “Radioactivity.” Additional Modern Country tracks on the live LP include “I’m Gonna Live Forever (If It Kills Me)” and “Gone Clear.” Secret Statsophere also presents live takes on “Whole New Dude” and “We Can’t Go Home Again,” which appeared on the 2014 EP Lost Colony (the latter also on Tyler’s 2013 LP, Impossible Truth, from which the band takes its name).
An unreleased original, the krautrock-esque “Area Code 601,” (which covers Jackson, Mississippi) has been in Tyler’s live repertoire for several years. Spanning just shy of nine minutes and described by Tyler as “Hawkwind meets Charlie Daniels Band,” the “Area Code 601” official live video, and the previously shared “Whole New Dude,” can be viewed below:
