Wilco and Waxahatchee capped a run of shows together with a performance at Asheville Yards Amphitheater in Asheville, North Carolina. The last Sweet & Sour Tour concert featured both bands trading sit-ins during each other’s sets.
Waxahatachee’s Katie Crutchfield recruited Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy for “Right Back To It.” Tweedy sang the backing vocals provided by North Carolina-native MJ Lenderman on the studio version of the song from Waxahatchee’s 2024 album, Tigers Blood. The collaboration was a family affair as Tweedy’s son, Spencer Tweedy, is Waxahatchee’s drummer.
Wilco returned the favor at the start of their encore in Asheville by bringing out all of the members of Waxahatchee – Crutchfield, Spencer Tweedy, guitarist Liam Kazar, bassist Eliana Athayde, pedal steel guitarist Colin Croom and multi-instrumentalist Cole Berggren – for “California Stars.”
