Wilco has hosted eight installments of their Solid Sound Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts since 2010. The 2013 installment was the focus of Every Other Summer, a full-length documentary directed by Christoph Green and Brendan Canty. Originally released for purchase and rental in 2015, Wilco has now posted the film on their YouTube channel.
The title, Every Other Summer, reflects the festival’s biennial schedule. In keeping with the tradition, Solid Sound was last held in 2024 and is expected to return to MASS MoCA in 2026.

The 82-minute film features performances from Wilco and fellow 2013 Solid Sound artists including Lucius, Sam Amidon, Foxygen, Neko Case, Yo La Tengo, White Denim and The Dream Syndicate, among others. Green and Canty also interviewed Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy, his bandmates, the festival’s organizers, MASS MoCA staff and attendees.
Wilco devoted one of their 2013 Solid Sound sets to covers requested by fans. Footage of the band preparing for the performance and putting their own spin on Pavement’s “Cut Your Hair” and teaming with The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson for “Color Me Impressed” is included within Every Other Summer.
