Wilco Busts Out Rarities In Knoxville
By Andy Kahn Jun 7, 2019 • 7:38 am PDT
Wilco’s concert Thursday at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee featured several rarely played songs. The performance was the second straight hiatus-ending show for the band that before this two-night run had not shared the stage together since 2017.
No songs were repeated from Wednesday’s setlist. Four songs into the main set came the first rarity in the form of “I’ll Fight” from Wilco (The Album), which was not performed by Wilco at all in 2017.
Another pair of songs last played by Wilco in 2016, “Red-Eyed And Blue” from Being There and the Mermaid Avenue track “Hesitating Beauty,” were also offered in the middle of the set. It was during the encore that Wilco broke out “What Light” for the first time since 2016, which was also just the second performance of the Sky Blue Sky tune by the group since 2014. Despite “Monday” and “Hoodoo Voodoo” being on the printed stage setlist, Wilco instead opted for “A Shot In The Arm” as the final song of the concert.
