Wilco Begins 3-Night Stand In L.A. – Videos & Setlist

Last night Wilco opened a run of shows in Los Angeles with the first of three sold-out performances at The Theatre At Ace Hotel. The Chicago-based band continued their acoustic-heavy approach and featured several songs from their just-released new LP Schmilco.
Seven songs in total were played from the also-acoustic-leaning 12-track album, including the Jeff Tweedy and Nels Cline duet rendition of the show opening “Normal American Kids.” The full band then emerged for Schmilco cuts “If I Ever Was a Child” and “Cry All Day” with the sextet also later offering album tracks “Someone to Lose,” “Nope,” “Locator” and “We Aren’t the World (Safety Girl).” Recently resurrected rarities “Radio Cure” and “Reservations” as well as the lone selection from last year’s Star Wars LP “The Joke Explained” helped round out the main set.
The first encore featured “Jesus Etc.” followed by the Uncle Tupelo song “We’ve Been Had” and a pair of choices from Wilco’s Mermaid Avenue collaboration with Billy Bragg – “Christ For President” and “California Stars.” The band left the stage and returned for a fully electric “Spiders (Kidsmoke)” finale.
Several songs from the encores last night were captured by prestoff2000, view the videos below:
