Widespread Panic played the third show of a five-night residency at The Beacon Theatre in New York City on Saturday. The setlist contained the band’s first performance of “Time Waits” since December 31, 2017.

Saturday’s first set got underway with “Pigeons” and concluded with “Greta” segueing into a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Cream Puff War.” Between those came covers of David Bromberg’s “Sharon” and Junior Kimbrough’s “Junior” alongside originals “Up All Night,” “Christmas Katie,” “Radio Child” (with frontman John Bell delivering a “Stay Up Late” by Talking Heads rap) and “Glory.”

Set two opened with a “Flicker” and closed with a “Climb To Safety.” The rest of the second half was filled in with a pairing of “Tall Boy” and “Fishwater,” a standalone “A Of D,” and an unbroken sequence of “Driving Song” into “Machine” into “Barstools and Dreamers” into a “Zambi Jam” back into “Driving Song” into “Happy Child” into “Dear Prudence.” Saturday marked the first “Happy Child” in more than a year and “Dear Prudence” was WSP’s third time playing The Beatles cover debuted earlier this year.

The encore began with the first Panic performance of “Time Waits” in 139 shows, having last been played in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve 2017. Saturday’s rendition was just the second since 2014 and the band’s 31st known offering of the song that appeared on their 2003 album, Ball. The recently dusted-off “Travelin’ Man” followed the bust out. The band then segued into “The Waker,” and the song written by late co-founding guitarist-Michael Houser brought an end to the show at The Beacon.
