In 2000, brothers Chris and Geoff Hanson spent time on the road and in the studio with Widespread Panic capturing footage for their resulting documentary, The Earth Will Swallow You. The film, originally released in 2002, will have its worldwide streaming premiere on nugs.net this Saturday, January 21 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The Hanson Brothers’ documentary focuses on Panic’s 2000 Summer Tour. Included within is footage of live performances and backstage collaborations from stops at such famed venues as Red Rocks and The Warfield along with clips filmed in the recording studio with longtime collaborator John Keane. Plus, The Earth Will Swallow You features interviews with band members and several artists close to Widespread Panic. Taj Mahal, Jorma Kaukonen, Vic Chesnutt, Col. Bruce Hampton, Danny Hutchens, Jerry Joseph and Eric Carter are among special guests who appear in the film.

Chris and Geoff Hanson recently unveiled a never before seen clip of Widespread Panic performing “Arleen” at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 24, 2000. Panic was joined by Colin Butler from Big Ass Truck on turntables for the memorable version of “Arleen.” Part of the clip appears in The Earth Will Swallow You. Watch the full “Arleen” below:
