Widespread Panic swung through St. Augustine, Florida on Friday night where they kicked off a three-night run at St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The southern jam rockers played a pair of Grateful Dead covers at the end of the first set and the encore, including one that had been on the shelf since 2015.

The show kicked off with “Papa’s Home” followed by Neil Young’s “Don’t Be Denied.” Rock” and “Henry Parson’s Died” followed ahead of “Chilly Water.” “Happy” then led into Curtis Mayfield’s “Pusherman” which in turn segued into JJ Cale’s “Travelin’ Light.” The first set closed out with the Grateful Dead’s “Cream Puff War,” a song performed for only the fourth time since 2016.

The second frame got underway with a run of Neil Young’s “Walk On,” “Hatfield” and “Cotton Was King.” WSP then performed “Tall Boy” and “Pigeons” ahead of a continuous block of “Junior, “Driving Song,” “Blue Indian” and the end of “Driving Song.” The second set came to a close with the Jerry Joseph-penned “Climb To Safety.” The band would encore with Talking Heads’ “Heaven” and the evening’s second Dead cover, “New Speedway Boogie,” which was last played on March 28, 2015.
