Georgia rockers Widespread Panic bring their New Year’s celebration home this year for a pair of shows in Atlanta. The action started last night with the band’s annual Tunes For Tots shows at the Atlanta Symphony Hall and concludes tonight at the Philips Arena.

Panic has been throwing their Tunes For Tots benefits to raise money for music education since 2005. The band opened up with a cover of Taj Mahal’s “She Caught The Katy” and focused on potent originals throughout the first set up until they ended the opening stanza with a take on The Yardbirds’s “Drinkin’ Muddy Water.” Last night’s second set contained many rockers such as “Tall Boy,” “Quarter Tank Of Gasoline” and “Chainsaw City” along with fan-favorites “Barstools and Dreamers” and “Vacation.” John Bell shined during a cover of Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers To Cross” as part of a three-song encore.
