Widespread Panic Releases ‘Porch Songs: Tipitina’s 1992’
The Widespread Panic vault opened once again for a new Porch Songs live archival release. Porch Songs: Tipitina’s 1992 features the band’s October 26, 1992 performance at the famed Tipitina’s club in New Orleans and is available for purchase via LiveWidespreadPanic.com.
Panic has a long and storied history of outstanding performances in New Orleans. The show featured in the 39th installment of Porch Songs was just their sixth show in the Big Easy. Highlights are plentiful and include the “Driving Song” > “Hatfield” > “Driving Song” sequence that opens the lone set and a pairing of “It Ain’t No Use,” “Dream Song” and “Weight Of The World.” The show took place just days after Blues Traveler frontman John Popper was nearly killed in a motorcycle accident in Louisana, where the band was recording their third studio album. A chant of “Get Well John” came just before a version of “Chilly Water” featuring Blues Traveler’s Bobby Sheehan on bass and Chan Kinchla on guitar.
