Widespread Panic :: 2.10.16 :: Classic Center :: Athens, GA

Widespread Panic concluded a two-night stand celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary at The Classic Center in Athens, Georgia on Wednesday night. The Georgia rockers were joined by longtime friend and frequent collaborator John Keane for portions of both sets as well as the encore. Keane, who has produced a number of Widespread Panic albums, has sat-in with the group over 130 times dating back to a 1988 performance in Athens.

John Keane made his first appearance of the night at the end of the first set to contribute acoustic guitar and vocals to “Degenerate” and guitar to a cover of “For What It’s Worth.” Keane came out with the band after setbreak to add to “Fishing,” “This Cruel Thing” and “City Of Dreams” at the beginning of the second set. “This Cruel Thing” had been shelved since January 29, 2012 – a span of 235 shows. The famed/producer performer returned at the end of the second set for covers of Neil Young’s “Don’t Be Denied” and “Mr. Soul.” Keane was also on hand for the “Ain’t Life Grand”/”Fishwater” encore.
