Widespread Panic Goes Cover-Less In Mobile

By Scott Bernstein Feb 18, 2016 6:57 am PST

Last night, Widespread Panic continued Winter Tour at the Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama. The Georgia rockers made it through both sets and the encore without playing a cover, something that is unheard of in the current era of Widespread Panic.

Panic opened last night’s show with the instrumental “A of D” and the rest of the first set mixed old favorites such as “Holden Oversoul,” “Pilgrims” and “Pleas” with newer material including “The Poorhouse Of Positive Thinking” and “Angels Don’t Sing The Blues.” The second set featured more of the same with plenty of heavy hitters thrown in. A “Surprise Valley” > “Tie Your Shoes” > “Surprise Valley” sequence and a “Fishwater” containing both the nightly “Drums” and “Drums And Bass” segments were among the evening’s highlights. Widespread Panic put a stamp on the cover-less performance with a “Contentment Blues”/”Vacation” encore.

Next up for Widespread Panic is a visit to the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis on Friday. As always, a live audio stream is available via LiveWidespreadPanic.com.
