Widespread Panic Dusts Off Funkadelic Gem In Charlottesville

By Scott Bernstein Apr 29, 2016 12:34 pm PDT

On Thursday night, Widespread Panic‘s Spring Tour rolled on at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Charlottesville, Virginia. The band mixed original from nearly every era of their 30-year career with a handful of choice covers in Charlottesville including the return of a beloved Funkadelic instrumental.

Last night’s second set featured the band’s first rendition of “Maggot Brain” by Funkadelic since July 4, 2015. “Maggot Brain” provides a fantastic platform for Jimmy Herring to show off his impressive guitar skills and Thursday’s cover was no exception. The show also included Panic’s second 2016 version of Warren Zevon’s “Lawyers Guns & Money.” Spring Tour continues tomorrow night in Raleigh, North Carolina.
