As reported, The White Stripes’ song “We’re Going To Be Friends” serves as the inspiration behind Jack White’s debut children’s book of the same title. We’re Going To Be Friends is available everywhere today via Third Man Books. In honor of the release, Jack has dipped into the White Stripes’ archives for a performance of the tune.
Here’s more on the book from our initial report:
White teamed with illustrator Elinor Blake, whose other credits include The Ren and Stimpy Show and Pee Wee’s Playhouse as well as recording music as April March. The book comes with a digital download of the original “We’re Going to Be Friends” recording from The White Stripes’ 2001 third studio LP White Blood Cells. Also included are downloads of covers of the song performed by April March and The Woodstation Elementary School Singers.
The book, which follows the song’s character Suzy Lee “as she goes to school with her books and pens, looks for bugs, shows and tells, and finds a friend,” can be pre-ordered at Third Man.
