Weezer Covers Toto’s ‘Africa’ With ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic In Inglewood

Earlier this year, a Weezer fan from Ohio started a campaign to get the band to cover Toto’s 1982 smash “Africa.” The campaign was a success as Weezer recorded and released their take on the song after issuing a cover of Toto’s “Rosanna.” Weezer is currently on tour and played The Forum in Inglewood, California on Wednesday night. The group treated fans to “Africa” towards the end of the show and surprised the audience by bringing out special guest “Weird Al” Yankovic.

Weezer turned “Africa” into a staple of their Summer Tour. Rivers Cuomo & Co. introduced the Toto cover in L.A. by asking fans, “Where is Weezer going to take you tonight?” The crowd screamed “Africa” in response and the band lit into the Toto classic. Comedy-rock legend “Weird Al” Yankovic emerged just in time to take the song’s iconic keyboard solo on accordion. Yankovic also chimed in with backing vocals.
