Ween Dusts Off ‘Bison Burger’ In Minnesota

On May 30, 2010 Ween debuted a mostly instrumental rocker titled “Bison Burger” at the Wilma Theatre in Missoula, Montana. The song was long thought to be a one and done affair until Thursday night, when Ween busted out the second ever “Bison Burger” at Bluestem Amphitheatre in Moorhead, Minnesota.
The return of “Bison Burger” came towards the end of Ween’s 27-song main set in Moorhead. Guitarist Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo spent most of the lengthy tune soloing, while vocalist Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman threw in lyrics not found in the original version of the obscurity. Ween then closed out the set with the beloved “Poopship Destroyer.”
Earlier in the night Ween opened with “Pork Roll Egg & Cheese” and “How High Can You Fly?,” a song debuted the night the band returned from a four-year breakup. Moorhead fans were also treated to just the third ever “The Stallion Pt. 2” as part of the main set. The quintet fit in plenty of heavy rotation staples including “Bananas & Blow,” “The Golden Eeel,” “Your Party,” “Waving My Dick In The Wind” and “Mister Would You Please Help My Pony?” For the encore, Gener, Deaner, bassist Dave Drewitz, drummer Claude Coleman and keyboardist Glenn McClennand said fare well with “Polka Dot Tail,” “Roses Are Free” and “Buckingham Green.”
