Ween got their three-night run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York underway on Friday. The band fit in a bust outs of “Shamemaker,” a number of rarities as well as most of Cat Steven’s “Father And Son” during night one at The Cap.

Ween launched the show with “Pork Roll Egg And Cheese” followed by “She Wanted To Leave” and “Exactly Where I’m At.” The band then offered a tease of the GodWeenSatan: The Oneness track “Blackjack,” which has only been teased a handful of times since 1992, as per Brownbase. Ween has returned to some rarities of late and one of them came next in the form of “I Wuz Nothin” debuted in Aaron Freeman (Gene Ween) and Mickey Melchiondo’s (Dean Ween) and hometown of New Hope, Pennsylvania on December 30, 2000. While Ween played “I Wuz Nothin” recently, The Cap 2022 version marked just the ninth time the group has played the tune since 2000. Ween kept up the rarities with the 12 Golden Country Greats track “I Don’t Want To Leave You On The Farm,” for just the 19th time since debuting in 1996.

Staple “Touch My Tooter” then prefaced another relatively rare song, “I Gots A Weasel,” ahead of the favorite “Transdermal Celebration.” “Boys Club” and newer tune “Transitions” then proceeded yet another rarity, “Mononucleosis.” The Pod cut was played for just the 24th time since its debut in 1994. The middle part of the set saw the classic “Voodoo Lady” ahead of just the ninth rendition of “I’ll Miss You.” Gener shouldered an acoustic guitar beginning on new tune “Cornbread Red” and after a “Pork Roll” coda, Deaner messed with a tease of Led Zeppelin’s “Over The Hills and Far Away” followed by Country Greats’ “Help Me Scrape The Mucus Off My Brain.” Gener then led the way on the beloved Cat Steven’s tune “Father And Son.” While the seemingly impromptu version was incomplete, Freeman hit the main points much to the delight of the crowd. Gener stayed on acoustic guitar for “Chocolate Town” and “The Mollusk.

Ween filled the tail end of the set with staples like “The Golden Eel,” “Buckingham Green” and “Your Party” to close out the main set along with more rarities like “Koko” and “Old Queen Cole,” the latter debuted in 1989. The three-song encore kicked off with “Dancing In The Show Tonight” followed by a bust out of “Shamemaker,” dedicated to Aaron’s daughter Ashton Freeman. The La Cucaracha cut saw action for the first time since December 29, 2011. The band closed out the evening with the Chocolate and Cheese classic “Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down).”
