Ween Announces ’12 Golden Country Greats’ Performances
Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman and Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo took a departure from their normal genre-defying antics for Ween‘s fifth studio album. The pair limited themselves to one genre and enlisted the help of Nashville veterans to record 1996’s 12 Golden Country Greats. Ween supported the album with a 1996 Tour backed by a band they put together featuring some of those Nashville veterans they dubbed The Shit Creek Boys.
On October 16 and 17, Ween will reunite with The Shit Creek Boys to perform 12 Golden Country Greats at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The shows mark Ween’s return to Nashville for the first time since 2011 and debut at the famed Ryman. Ween’s last performance in Nashville took place on April 14, 2011 and featured guest appearances from Bobby Ogdin and Stu Basore of The Shit Creek Boys on four songs from 12 Golden Country Greats.
