The Weeknd provided halftime entertainment yesterday at Super Bowl LV in Tampa Bay, Florida. The pre-game festivities at Raymond James Stadium also featured H.E.R. performing “America The Beautiful” and Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church dueting on “The Star Spangled Banner.”
The Weeknd, who reportedly spent $7 million of his own money on production for his halftime show, performed several of his songs, including “Starboy,” “The Hills,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” “I Feel It Coming,” “Save Your Tears,” “Earned It,” “House Of Balloons” and “Blinding Lights.” According to Pitchfork, Oneohtrix Point Never served as musical director for the halftime show, which The New York Times noted was reduced in scale and work force due to COVID-19 safety protocols.

Capacity at Raymond James Stadium was also reduced due to COVID-19 restrictions with many of the approximately 22,000 in attendance being vaccinated frontline healthcare workers. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31 – 9 to win the NFL’s Lombardi Trophy.
