Floating in my tin can…

Date Palms –The Dusted Sessions

If the name of the album and the cover art didn’t already make you feel like you were impossibly trapped in the middle of some psychedelic desert, perhaps the music will…in your mind at least. This is slow-moving, atmospheric instrumental music with exotic strings and slide and pedal steel guitars mixed together to create a wholly unique and yes, bleak, sound. Imagine a “Dark Star” jam slowed down to a luxurious quarter speed and plopped in the middle of the Sahara and you’re starting to get the picture.

Mountains: Centralia

I hope you packed an overnight bag, because once you’re done floating blissfully around the desert with Date Palms, Mountains are ready to elevate you to the next plane with their awe-inspiring Centralia: more sweetly spaced out instrumental music for your brain to lose itself in. Somewhere between acoustic and electric, the music is akin to watching time lapse video: flowers slowly unfolding, stars rotating over a mountainous landscape, streams of traffic whooshing like spacecraft through the night. Enjoy!
