The Weather Station — the project of Toronto-based Tamara Lindeman — recently announced Humanhood, her new album out January 17 via Fat Possum. Today, she presents the climactic new single/video “Window,” which follows “Neon Signs,” and announces a North American Tour.

“Window” is an anthem of escape. The slashing guitar and spiraling electronics conjure a panic attack, the mind demanding answers. “I can’t explain right now,” she sings during one of the album’s most gripping moments, “just that I’m leaving.” The song’s video, directed by Philippe Léonard, presents Lindeman’s performance projected out the window of a moving van onto trees, forest and passing signs, recalling the rippling fabric motif of the Humanhood album art.

Recorded in Toronto in late 2023, Lindeman and co-producer Marcus Paquin combined drummer Kieran Adams, percussionist Philippe Melanson and bassist Ben Whiteley, the powerhouse rhythm section from Ignorance, with new music improvisers Karen Ng and Ben Boye. The overdubs feature folk interpreter Sam Amidon, ambient artist Joseph Shabason and British fingerstyle guitarist James Elkington on lead.

The Weather Station’s tour begins March 27 in Montreal (Quebec) and continues March 28 in Boston. Next comes shows in Woodstock (New York) on March 29 and Northampton (Massachusetts) on March 30. April kicks off with New York City performances on April 1 and Brooklyn on April 2, followed by Philadelphia on April 4 and Washington D.C. on April 5.

The tour continues through Durham (North Carolina) on April 6, Asheville (North Carolina) on April 7, Nashville on April 8, and Chicago on April 10. Shows in St. Paul (Minnesota) on April 11, Iowa City (Iowa) on April 12 and Kalamazoo (Michigan) on April 13 follow. In May, the band hits Los Angeles on May 8 and San Francisco on May 10 before two nights in Portland (Oregon) on May 12 and 13.

The West Coast run includes Vancouver on May 15, Victoria (British Columbia) on May 16 and Seattle on May 17. The tour concludes with Canadian shows in Ottawa (Ontario) on June 5 and Toronto on June 6.
