Waxahatchee (Katie Crutchfield) welcomed partner and collaborator Kevin Morby to share the stage during her Wednesday night concert in Austin. Morby emerged for two songs as part of Waxahatchee’s encore at Mohawk.
Last night’s show was the first of two nights for Waxahatchee in Austin. Crutchfield is currently on tour with the Saint Cloud Band in support of the project’s 2020 album, Saint Cloud. The 25-song setlist in Austin featured live performances of all 11 tracks from the LP.
Waxahatchee began Wednesday’s encore with “Under A Rock” off 2015’s Ivy Tripp. Morby then came out to lead a performance of “Downtown’s Light” from his 2017 album, City Music. Kevin was also on hand for Jason Molina / Magnolia Electric Co.’s “The Dark Don’t Hide It.” Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby previously recorded the song for their 2018 tribute to the late Molina. Waxahatchee completed the show sans Morby with a cover of Dolly Parton’s “Light Of A Clear Blue Morning.”
